Hello!
Hello, I'm Tom, the one making stuff at Steady-On Designs. I've been working with wood for nearly 18 years, mostly from my workshop in Brighton. Here's a little bit about what goes on here.

Steady-On Designs is a small woodworking studio (just me!) in Brighton, although I now live just up the road in Lewes. My main focus is on creating bespoke one-offs, prototypes, and small batches of high-quality products for other makers and businesses. I also work with the public, and I'm happy to take on domestic work and custom pieces of furniture.
I'm all about small-scale production, using carefully selected materials and precise craftsmanship. I make sure every item leaving my workshop has the quality and attention to detail that it deserves.
I really value the relationships I've built with my customers, and as projects come and go I'm always open to new projects. Sometimes people just need the odd fixture making for their studio, others I've been working with for years producing some of their most popular products.
I love working with local makers and designers, and customers are often seeking someone nearby because it allows for more hands-on involvement throughout the production process. Choosing local manufacturing also supports the community: not only are you supporting me, but I pay my rent at the amazing Rodhus Studios in Brighton, and I buy my wood locally from suppliers like Wenban-Smith in Worthing and English Woodlands Timber in West Sussex.
So that's that. Take a look at my portfolio, see what I can offer, and if you have an idea I can help with, want something made, or have any questions, please get in touch!
